Diamonds get rough

Until 2005, North Texas hadn't seen back-to-back pro football champions since the last great run for the Dallas Cowboys in the mid-90s. But last year, the Dallas Diamonds of the Women's Professional Football League repeated their undefeated 2004 summer, taking the national title again. The bone-crushing ladies' home season begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, when they take on the New Mexico Burn at the Birdville ISD Fine Arts/Athletics Complex, 9200 Mid Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills. $7-$10 (season tickets $25-$35). 817-595-3126. The other three home games are Houston Energy, Aug. 19; Tulsa Black Widows, Aug. 26; and L.A. Amazons, Sept. 16. www.dallasdiamondsfootball.com
